The template can also be used for separate chapters in this book by various authors. In this case use as {{Gardner, 2008|1|2|3}}

Parameters:

the first one (optional): author(s) of chapter.
the second one (optional): title of chapter.
the third one (optional): range of pages of this chapter.

So for example, {{Gardner, 2008|{{a|Alfred Lunt Gardner|Gardner, A.L.}}|Genus ''Hyladelphys'' Voss, Lunde, and Simmons, 2001|50}} will produce the following reference:
