Wait what?

Aren't Mosasaurs varanids? They shouldn't be incertae sedis. --72.197.35.238 19:33, 19 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Can you provide a reference for that? Koumz (talk) 19:45, 19 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
The English Wikipedia page places them there (without reference), and I heard this on a recent life-in-ancient-Dallas television program. The English WP page on en:Pythonomorpha looks as though it might have some useful references. --EncycloPetey (talk) 22:17, 19 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
I did notice that enwiki has them there and was debating about whether to implement the enwiki structure. Koumz (talk) 22:43, 19 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
After reading the Pythonomorpha article, the Lee references there go against putting the Mosasaurs in Varanoidea, so there is confusion among the enwiki articles. I'm not deeply enough versed in the details of reptile taxonomy and systematics to be a really good judge, either. Koumz (talk) 22:49, 19 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Neither am I. I did find a note in The Encyclopedia of Paleontology (Fitzroy Dearborn Publishers, circa 2000) saying that relationships were "disputed" at that time. --EncycloPetey (talk) 23:05, 19 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
