Substantial differences in ecology and climatic adaptation between the two infrataxa of this species make subspecific recognition valid, rather than the low rank of variety - MPF (talk) 16:31, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- American varieties largely correspond to European subspecies. Most if not all authoritative works support the rank of variety. Sources for your point of view are missing in all articles concerned. --RLJ (talk) 17:46, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
