Labrobolcus giorgioi Bannikov & Bellwood, 2015

  • Holotype: PIN 5540/1, single plate, complete skeleton with its peripheral portions lost.
  • Paratypes: MCSNV IG 23214, single plate, complete skeleton, IG 145095, single plate, somewhat incomplete skeleton.

Type locality and Horizon: Bolca locality, Pesciara cave site; Early Eocene, late Ypresian, middle Cuisian, SBZ 11, Alveolina dainelli Zone.

Etymology: The species is named in honour of Dr. Giorgio Carnevale of the Università di Torino, in recognition of his important contributions to our knowledge of Cenozoic fishes among a broad diversity of systematic groups, geological ages, and geographic localities.
