Armed climbing shrubs. Leaves ovate-elliptic, obtuse, mucronate. Flowers pink, 2-3 together in supra axillary rows.Collateral floral buds are common. Calyx small 4 partite , Corolla 4 lobes leathery, Stamens many, exerted, pink, anther lobes small, Ovary on an elongated gynophore.Berry 2-3 cm across, woody and red.Fruits are used for pickles.
