English: Taiwan endemic species, evergreen shrubs or small trees. Slender branchlets sagging or obliquely rising, cylindrical, and green. New stems and leaves are red. Leaves are simple, whorled or clustered in the apex of branchlets, obovate or ovate-elliptic, leathery and entire.
Flowers are few, not conspicuous, yellow-green, terminal or nearly terminally slender umbellate panicles; flowering period from October to November. The drupe is flat and spherical and turns from green to purple-black when mature. Tolerant to heat, drought, wind, barrenness, and salt. Propagated by seeding or cutting. The plant can be garden landscape trees, hedges, and windbreaks and the timber can be used as building materials.
