Named after Acton, California, the type locality 2603:8000:B640:547F:DA5:1550:D684:F7A7 15:51, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! I've removed them - MPF (talk) 22:44, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the heads up, and also thanks to MPF for moving the "Eponyms of person" categories from the redirect pages Encelia frutescens var. actonii, Encelia virginiensis subsp. actoni and Encelia virginensis var. actonii. In addition to this I've added the etymological data to the Encelia actonii main page, and removed the Elizabeth Acton eponyms category from it. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 23:00, 16 March 2024 (UTC).Reply
"Sometimes claimed"? No, I think this was just MILEPRI being overly zealous with eponym categories again. Unless there is actually a source that makes this claim that it may have been named after Elizabeth Acton? Monster Iestyn (talk) 00:39, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps; but iNaturalist gives the species' English name with a possessive as "Acton's Brittlebush", suggesting a wider belief in it being named after someone called Acton, rather than after the place - MPF (talk) 00:46, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Fair point, I was not aware of that. Monster Iestyn (talk) 01:02, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
