@TED: Thanks for pointing this out! They are now all added to the French localization database, except for the words in the following table, which you didn't mention. Please replace all the "??" with the proper French translations to the table below, and I will add them as well. The French localization database will then be complete! :-) Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 18:21, 27 December 2019 (UTC).Reply
English Français Notes
taxon names authored by noms de taxon dont l'auteur est Templates will add a sum and author name to this string, and automatically render it as for example "21 taxon names authored by Linnaeus".
Primary type fixation ??
Primary type fixations ?? Primarily used in reference templates, for example {{Larochelle & Larivière, 2013}}.

@Tommy Kronkvist: Hi, I added three on the fourth that are lackings, for "Primary type fixations" if someone can point a page where it is used in an English context, then it will helpfull for me or another person to try to translate it. Is it even used somewhere? Is it the "fixation" that we can see here, if yes why "Primary type fixations" is plural?. Regards, Christian Ferrer (talk) 16:52, 31 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Christian Ferrer: Thank you! I've added the three new ones to the database. Also, you're correct about the "Primary type fixations", both regarding the meaning (per your linked example) and the grammatical number. I've therefore now changed it into singular. Happy New Year! Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 17:14, 31 December 2019 (UTC).Reply
@Christian Ferrer: I've noticed that the phrase "Primary type fixations" (plural) is indeed used quite frequently by reference templates – see link to an example in the table above. I've therefore added it again. Cordially, Tommy Kronkvist (talk) 03:38, 3 February 2020 (UTC), 03:38, 3 February 2020 (UTC).Reply

Calendrical items

{{Editprotected}}

Can I suggest that Wikispecies:Localization#Calendrical items be removed? These messages are translated as part of translating mediawiki core, and translations should be done at, translatewiki (see, eg, translatewiki:Special:PrefixIndex/MediaWiki:January) rather than here locally. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 00:41, 10 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

 Done. It took a bit longer than necessary, but now it's removed. Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 04:10, 3 February 2020 (UTC).Reply

Other core messages

{{Editprotected}}

@Tommy Kronkvist: can you please also remove the following messages that are translated on translatewiki?

Notes

{{Editprotected}}

So that it can be used in headings (as it is used now), please change '''Notes:''' to just Notes, and update existing translations accordingly. See current usage: https://species.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?sort=relevance&search=insource%3A+%22int%3ANotes%22&title=Special:Search&profile=advanced&fulltext=1&searchengineselect=mediawiki&advancedSearch-current=%7B%7D&ns0=1 - it is used in headings, and should be consistent with other such messages.

Then, please add the following translations for "Notes"

Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 05:28, 3 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

@DannyS712: When would this be used in the text of the directory itself? —Justin (koavf)TCM 20:20, 6 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Koavf: I'm afraid I don't understand the question - the custom localization here is missing these messages --DannyS712 (talk) 20:23, 6 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
@DannyS712: Translating the site interface or the MediaWikia software happens at translatewiki: but this page is for translating the actual content of this directory (e.g. "entomologist" or "publications"). It seems like you are trying to translate some word that would by used by the site's interface like "List of blocks" or something rather than a word that would occur on the entry for a certain species or taxon authority. Is that correct? Hm. Well, it does appear that we have a section for the site interface now, actually. Shows what I know: this page has grown a lot from when I started it. Thanks, D.Justin (koavf)TCM 20:37, 6 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Resolved. The missing translations have all been added by Koavf. Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 00:18, 22 March 2020 (UTC).Reply

Capital letter

MediaWiki:Type locality/fr This is used with a capital letter in English, I fail to see a reason for why it is not the same thing in french, pleace replace it with "Localité type". Christian Ferrer (talk) 18:41, 17 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Note that it is the same issue with all the few french translations that I have just opened, therefore this is maybe the same issue with almost all the french translations. E.g. "Conservation status" vs "statuts de conservation", "Syntypes" vs "syntypes". I don't see any grammatical rules that can justify this difference, example see en:Syntype, used as a title or as the first word of a sentence, there is a capital letter, but not when this word is in the middle of a text. That is the same thing in french. Therefore, in the extand that the translations of specific words are used in the same gramatical context, either the English version MediaWiki:Syntype must have a lower case, or the french version MediaWiki:Syntype/fr must have a capital letter. If necessary I can list all the french translations that should be amanded. Christian Ferrer (talk) 23:28, 18 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hello @Christian Ferrer, and thank you for notifying the community about this. I'll start working on it in later today, when I've got more time. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 00:09, 22 March 2020 (UTC).Reply
@Christian Ferrer. It took a bit longer longer than anticipated, but now I think it's done. Please have a look at the Wikispecies:Localization page again to double-check. (Also, please be aware that almost all of the words in the Localization page's Templates/Modèles sub-section are exceptions. They are used within sentences in paragraphs of text, hence should not be capitalized.)
Lastly, if you find any untranslated words that you know the French equivalent for, please add them below and an admin will add them to the database. Best regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 19:58, 23 March 2020 (UTC).Reply
Very fine. Thanks you very much for the hard working! I checked all and it seems good. The very few that have no french translations are technichal terms of whitch I don't know the translations. If ever I know them one day, I will ping you. Christian Ferrer (talk) 20:34, 23 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Capital letter request

Can someone change this to form "Synonyymit" (to first capital letter). It occurs in subheadings, where all words is written with first capital letter in finnish language. Kindly Jnovikov (talk) 17:30, 24 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Taxa by author

{{Editprotected}}

Please add a new message to allow translation of {{Taxa by author}}.

The message content should be List of taxon names authored by $1.

Once it is added, the template can be changed to be {{int:Taxa by author|<span class="hcard"><span class="fn n">[[{{{1}}}]]</span></span>}}.

Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 07:12, 18 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Tommy Kronkvist: can you take a look? Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 17:59, 23 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
@DannyS712:  Done. Please excuse the long delay, but I've got a very busy schedule at the moment. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 13:51, 12 May 2020 (UTC).Reply
@Tommy Kronkvist: the message is currently named List of taxon names authored by $1 - can you rename it to just Taxa by author? --DannyS712 (talk) 19:37, 12 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
@DannyS712: Sorry about that. I guess I'm a bit too overworked – and underpaid! :-) Anyway, I corrected it a couple of hours ago and I see that you've already edited the {{Taxa by author}} template accordingly. It looks good, so thanks!
I've added the Swedish translation, but we need of course add localizations for all the other languages as well. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 21:52, 12 May 2020 (UTC).Reply
Thanks so much. --DannyS712 (talk) 21:56, 12 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Additions of Norwegian (no)

Oh, and could you at the same time, add MediaWiki:Name/no = Navn? If we can start a new language like that, cause I noticed that Norwegian is missing fron the list. --Sabelöga (talk) 21:33, 29 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Thiotrix: What about no? --Sabelöga (talk) 17:33, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I'm not sure how to add a new language to the translation table. It seems to be more complicated. --Thiotrix (talk) 19:59, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
That's unfortunate. Oh well, give me a shout when you guys figure that out, I might be able make more translations to Norwegian. --Sabelöga (talk) 22:22, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Paraneotypes, ect.

Hi, I see that there is no entries for Neotype, Neotypes, Paraneotype and Paraneotypes. Should they be added? Christian Ferrer (talk) 19:35, 24 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
