Translation

The heading of this page and the {{Tanheader}} template needs to be marked for translation… Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 22:46, 28 October 2017 (UTC).[reply]

Templates in need of translation

These two templates will soon be used on many, many pages, and therefore urgently needs to be marked up for translation, and translated: {{Taxa authored}} and {{Taxa by author}}. Thanks in advance! –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 16:11, 23 November 2017 (UTC).[reply]

@AlvaroMolina, Chrumps, CreativeC, Kaganer, Koavf, Samuele2002, and יונה בנדלאק: Please read the Template:Taxa by author discussion at the Village Pump, and make the necessary changes to the above templates accordingly. Kind regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 12:39, 4 December 2017 (UTC).[reply]
In my opinion, converting each template into translatable mode - is unsistematically way. See, as example, Louis Jean Pierre Vieillot. Well, phrase "225 taxon names authored by " will be translated. But what about the rest of the text? Section headers? Introduction? Bibliography? Have you thought about how this will look like when a user interface language, for example, is Arabic? Bad look.--Kaganer (talk) 19:38, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If we are based on the approach that is laid in Wikispecies:Localization, then we needs to add there two new strings, for these templates (and then convert templates, of course). Ok, this will be works. But all this set of messages is looks very cumbersome. --Kaganer (talk) 19:38, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If the community chose such a way of localization - translating certain "elementary" words and phrases, then we need to collect all these messages in a new MediaWiki extension, named like "Wikispecies messages", and translate this in translatewiki:, as other MediaWiki messages. These translated messages may be called from any wikitext and core messages with using {{int:}} magic prefix.--Kaganer (talk) 19:43, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Amire80: - maybe you have valuable advice about this topic? --Kaganer (talk) 19:49, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikispecies Policy page

Hello Translation Admins! The Enforcing policy section of the Wikispecies:Policy page has recently been updated. Since it is a particularly important page it is in the best interest of the entire Wikispecies community that all relevant changes to the translation codes are made as soon as possible. and that the translation tags for Help:Translation needs to be updated. Thank you. – Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 09:53, 13 June 2018 (UTC).[reply]

@AlvaroMolina, Chrumps, CreativeC, Kaganer, Koavf, Samuele2002, and Stïnger: and @יונה בנדלאק:
Today it's over a month since the above mentioned pages got altered, and they've been untouched ever since. Can some one of you please fix them? Also, it would be very much appreciated if the Wikispecies:Glossary page was set up for translation, since I think it is a rather useful page for many of the Wikispecies users. Thanks! –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 17:28, 16 July 2018 (UTC).[reply]
I try to do this asap but I’m on a trip right now --CreativeC (talk) 23:09, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I update Help:Translation page. - yona b (talk) 06:27, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

About Template:Autobiography - this is bad way for translation markup. There is a more correct way to make the translation displayed in the language of the user interface (if this was the goal). --Kaganer (talk) 10:33, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Done - converted to "autotranslated" mode; translatable content was extracted to Template:Autobiography/i18n. --Kaganer (talk) 11:02, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Central Kurdish help page

As you all know we have a page named Help:Translation. Thankfully it has been translated to a whole bunch of languages other than English, one of them being Central Kurdish (i.e. Sorani) which you can find here: Help:Translation/ckb. The creator of that page has made a total of ten edits to Wikispecies: all on the same day (October 13, 2017), and half of them to the above page. The page has never contained more than five words in Sorani, and as far I can tell those words aren't proper translations, or even related to Wikispecies... The rest of the page is still written in English, together with a fair amount of badly formatted wiki code. Hopefully someday an active and Sorani-speaking user with good intentions will join us here at Wikispecies, but until then I suggest we delete the page. That can only be done by a Translation Administrator, in other words one of you guys... 😉 Kind regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 20:20, 8 August 2018 (UTC).[reply]

The page is now deleted. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 20:32, 29 August 2018 (UTC).[reply]

Please mark for translation, parts of Help:Image Guidelines

Hello, could you please authorize and mark for translation, which parts I somehow added tags? Thank you. --Omotecho (talk) 05:46, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Pigsonthewing:I noticed the options section you read on /en page doesn’t shiw on /ja page. Could you have a look so that recent update be referred by non-English translators please? Kindly note the first part of my query as above. --Omotecho (talk) 03:57, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Omotecho: I regret that I cannot understand what you are asking me to do. Please can you explain in more detail? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 19:33, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Pigsonthewing: hello, I have added tags and marked for translation those texts I wish to translate; in particular the “options” sub-section somebody added. I see the tag is not working, no error warned, so guessed that is because I am not a translation admin at wikispecies, and should have consulted an admin firstly.
What procedure would you advise me to follow in cases with wikispecies, when you find texts you read in an /en page but excluded in its /ja page, thus missing on “not translated yet” tab on translation extension? My guess is that either you ask an admin to do for you, or go ahead and add tags to mark for translation (non-wikispecies wiki). Cheers, --Omotecho (talk) 06:16, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Being a monoglot, I'm not familiar with translation extension; so regret that I cannot help you. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 18:30, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
