Welcome to Wikispecies!

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

You are welcome to continue editing without logging in, but you may want to consider creating an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits, such as the ability to keep track of pages you work on. If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

In any case, I hope you enjoy editing here. Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or ask in the Village Pump. Again, welcome! Burmeister (talk) 12:48, 8 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Taxon pages naming scheme edit

Please note that all taxon pages should only be named after a proper taxon. There are no legitimate taxon names that include the phrase "incertae sedis", and a page name such as "Suborder Incertae Sedis" will not work since it doesn't relate to any specific order (e.g. Pantopoda). Therefore all of the "incertae", "incerti" and "fake <taxon name>" pages you've created have all been deleted. As Burmeister noted above, please read Help:Contents and its sub-sections for tutorials and information regarding names, preferred format, and such. If you have further questions do not hesitate to ask me or any other admin, or make a query in the Village Pump. (The latter is often quickest since it reaches out to the whole community rather than a single user.) Best regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 09:58, 24 July 2017 (UTC).Reply

Again, please note that taxon pages including the phrase "incertae sedis" should never be created, since they don't represent a valid taxon name. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 09:33, 4 September 2017 (UTC).Reply

Layout of new taxon pages edit

Hello again. Please note that when creating new taxon pages, you should also always add data about the author (with year of publication) and a reference section. The Wikispecies guidelines about those sections can be found in Help:Name section and Help:Reference section. Thank you. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 18:10, 4 September 2018 (UTC).Reply

Format, again edit

I must once again stress that you should take the time to read Help:Contents and its subsection. Please do this before editing further. Several of your edits have been deleted because they were substandard. For example they did not include "Name" sections, author names, or any verifiable citations or references. It seems like a waste of time if you create a lot of pages, simply to see them deleted a few days later. Better to read some of our help files first – or ask for advice at the Village Pump, that works too! –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 01:14, 9 September 2018 (UTC).Reply

Please add references! edit

Hello, I noticed that you edit a lot of stub pages here. Please, add references to each of them, without refs your work is useless! Regards, --Thiotrix (talk) 07:17, 10 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Again, I would urge you to please also include references to your edits. It is essential, especially when adding huge amount of data as you did here. Best regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 21:06, 11 January 2019 (UTC).Reply
Please note that this is still an issue. Thank you. Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 09:08, 5 March 2019 (UTC).Reply
