This view of Melaleuca s.l. is not universally accepted and, for example, there is split in Australian herbaria and within their botanic community about its use, particularly when it comes to the circumscription of Callistemon R.Br., Voy. Terra Austral. 2: 547 (1814) (Udovicic, F. & Spencer, R.D. 2012). Therefore a taxon page is maintained on WS for Callistemon for now. However, internationally there is a wider acceptance of this wider circumscription of Melaleuca (Govaerts et al., 2016). Andyboorman (talk) 18:42, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
