Talk:Lindernia

Fischer (et al.) (2013) proposed a narrower circumscription of this genus, which has involved the establishment of a new genus Linderniella and the resurrection of Bonnaya and Vandellia. In addition, there were species transfers to Craterostigma, Micranthemum and Torenia. The circumscription proposed by Biffin et al. (2018) on the taxon page has yet to gain consensus and therefore it is only one side of a taxonomic opinion. It has been pointed out in personal communications that the problems with Biffin et al. (2018) is; in insufficient sampling, extrapolation of Australian data to a global perspective and continuing uncertainty in the validity of their phylogenetic and taxonomic analysis, so further work is justified. Finally, the Australian Plant Census does not accept Biffin et al. (2018) except as regards transfer of Vandellia combinations. WS has adopted a conservative position by creating taxon pages for the segregates. Andyboorman (talk) 19:55, 24 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
