Paratydeidae Baker (1949)

• Original status: valid family

Notes

• The family Paratydeidae was erected by Baker (1949) to accommodate a new genus Paratydeus.
• In a follow-up paper, 3 genera were included: Neotydeus, Paratydeus and Scolotydaeus (Baker, 1950: 289). Scolotydaeus was removed from the Tydeidae (Baker, 1950: 289). The 3 genera are listed by Baker (1965: 189).
• The family is divided in 6 genera according to Seeman & Walter (2000: 393): Hexatydeus, Neotydeus, Paratydeus, Sacotydeus, Scolotydaeus and Tanytydeus.
• The number of genera was reduced to 3 by Khaustov (2017): Neotydeus, Scolotydaeus and Tanytydeus.
• The family was part of Tydeoidea in the 2^nd edition of A manual of Acarology (Krantz, 1978: 236). It became part of Paratydeoidea in the next edition (Lindquist et al., 2009: 99).
