- Holotype: ?BMNH, collected by Lieutenant Sullivan in January 1836. [lost]
- Neotype: FMNH 24029, adult ♀, skin and skull, collected by J. Vera in 1923. [designated by LaVal (1973: 43)]
- Type locality: “Chiloe ... amongst the islets on the eastern side of Chiloe”, redesignated by neotype designation to “Cucao, Chiloe Island, Chile, elevation sea level” by LaVal (1973: 43).
