Additional note: The taxon was re-assigned to the freshly erected genus Ammosaurus by Marsh in 1891. Today, Ammosaurus major (Marsh, 1889) is considered a junor synonym of Anchisaurus polyzelus (Hitchcock, 1865).[1]
