Typus: Spain, Balearic Islands, Mallorca, near Caimari (Cami dels Horts), 30 Jan. 1987, 230 m alt., on limestone rocks, P. Cubas, E. Pangua, J.A. Rossellö & J. Vicens (PEP 45) (Holotype: MAF 129333).

Heterotypic
- Asplenium trichomanes nothosubsp. melzeri Lovis, Rasbach & Reichst., Candollea 44(2): 544 (1989).
  - Typus: Austria, Steiermark, steep limestone rocks above road No. 23, 1 km N. of Mürzsteg at ca. 800 m alt., just S. of the bridge over the river Mürz. 12 Sep 1964, H. Melzer, J.D. Lovis, A. Sleep & T. Reichstein TR-1371, among the parents. Fixed in the field, plant collected living, cultivated at Basel, multiplied by division and pressed 11 July 1968 (Holotype: B, isotypes: G, Z).
