Causus defilippii (Jan, 1863)

  • Holotype: MRSN R2894 (formerly MZUT 2836). [lost fide Broadley in Golay et al. (1993: 264)]
  • Type locality: “Buenos Ayres” (in error), corrected to “Africa” by FitzSimons (1966: 76), restricted to “Transvaal” by Elter (1982: 20).

  • Causus rostratus Mocquard, 1892: 35 [nomen praeoccupatum by Causus rostratus Günther, 1863, synonymised by Mocquard (1892: 64)]
    • Syntypes (n=6): MNHN-RA-1885.57–59, MNHN-RA-1883.218–219, obtained by M. le Capitaine Bloyet, and MNHN-RA-0.6070.
    • Type locality: “envoyés de Kondoa (Afrique orientale) (5 specimens)” and “Zanzibar” (1 specimen).
